Paper vouchers work. They are also lost, torn, forged, counted by hand, and worth nothing to the shop until somebody drives an envelope across town. Bounou keeps what works and drops the rest.
Why it exists
A company hands out a booklet. A member tears off a coupon. A shop collects a pile of them, sorts them, and waits weeks to be paid. Every step of that is somebody's afternoon, and every step is somewhere a voucher goes missing.
The same arrangement works better when the voucher is a record instead of a piece of paper: the company sees what it assigned, the member sees what they hold and where it works, and the shop is paid on a schedule it can plan around rather than one it has to chase.
Nothing about the deal changes. A meal voucher is still a meal voucher, still restricted to what it was issued for, still worth its face value at the counter. It just stops being an object that can be dropped in the street.

A ledger, not a guess
Every voucher issued, redeemed, settled and paid is a double-entry record. The books have to balance, and a nightly close checks that they still do.
Nothing to sell about you
No advertising, no analytics, no profiling. The service is paid for by the people using it, which is the only reason it can afford to leave you alone.
Boring where it counts
Money paths are the least clever code we write. Locks, limits and claim windows exist so that the worst day is small.
